Fonte Tavern is in [Lajes do Pico](/villages/lajes-do-pico), the old whaling town on the south
coast. Its usefulness is mostly geographic: it is inside the small part of Lajes you will already
be walking around if you have come here for the day.

The [Museu dos Baleeiros](/things-to-do/museu-dos-baleeiros) is on the harbour street, and
[Espaço Talassa](/whale-watching/espaco-talassa) sails from the same harbour. A morning boat, the
museum afterwards, and lunch without moving the car is a genuinely well-shaped day, and this is the
part of it that is easy to arrange badly.

Lajes is small. That is its charm and its constraint: there is not a long list of alternatives
within walking distance if you arrive somewhere at the wrong moment and find it full. Book.
