Roads are narrow but well paved; the main hazard is livestock and the occasional loose rock on mountain roads after rain. Fuel stations are concentrated in the three main towns.

## Practicalities

Mountain roads can be foggy with limited visibility: slow down, and check conditions before driving up toward the volcano.
