Gruta das Torres is the longest known lava tube in Portugal, a guided walk through a cave formed by the same eruption that shaped much of the island.

## The cave

A lava tube, visited on a guided walk only. Helmet and torch are provided at the visitor centre.
Book ahead in peak season: group sizes are capped for safety.
