Terms of Use

1. Agreement

This site is published by Binns Pte. Ltd.. By opening any page here you accept these terms and the privacy practices described below, including the analytics and cookies described in "Analytics and cookies". If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

2. What this site is

Pico Island is an independent guide. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with any government body, tourism authority, ferry operator, or other organisation described on it. Every figure we publish carries the primary source it came from, and every page shows when it was last checked. Conditions on Pico change, and a source can be wrong or out of date. Check anything safety critical, in particular mountain access, weather, and ferry and flight times, with the operator before you rely on it.

3. Accounts

Most of the site is readable without an account. Where an account exists, you are responsible for the email address you sign in with and for what is done through your session. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it.

4. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site. Do not republish substantial parts of it as your own. Automated reading is welcome within the limits set out in robots.txt, and the machine readable summaries at llms.txt and llms-full.txt exist so you do not have to scrape.

5. Warranty and liability

The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Binns Pte. Ltd. is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from reliance on anything published here.

6. Changes

These terms can change. The current version is always the one on this page, and continuing to use the site after a change is acceptance of the new version.

Privacy Policy

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. There is no cookie banner. By using the site you consent to everything Google Analytics does here, which is:

• Storing and reading cookies and similar identifiers in your browser, including the _ga and _ga_* cookies, which hold a randomly generated id and last up to two years.
• Collecting, on every page you open, the page url, page title, the page or site you arrived from, the time, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type, screen size, operating system, browser, and language.
• Collecting how you interact with a page, including scroll depth, clicks on links that leave the site, file downloads, site searches, and video engagement, where Google's enhanced measurement is switched on.
• Joining those events into a session and a returning visitor profile, and, where Google Signals is switched on, joining them to a signed in Google account so that Google can report demographics and interests.
• Sending all of the above to Google and processing it on Google infrastructure, including servers in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area, under Google's own terms and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

We do this to see which pages are read, which searches bring people here, and which pages are worth updating. We do not run advertising on the site and we do not sell this data.

If you would rather not be measured, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use private browsing, use a content blocker, or install Google's own Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Any of these stops the collection described above, and the site works normally without it.

What else we collect

• A session cookie (_picoisland_session). It is strictly necessary: it keeps you signed in and carries the token that protects forms against cross site request forgery. It is not used for analytics.
• Account data, if you sign in: your email address, the sign in codes sent to it, and, for each session, the IP address and browser user agent it was created from.
• Server logs, kept for a short period for security and debugging.
• Crawler records: when an automated agent reads the site we record which agent, which path, and on which day, in aggregate. This counts search and AI crawlers. It holds no personal data.

Processors

The third parties that touch data from this site are Google (analytics), our email provider (sign in codes and other transactional email), Cloudflare (network and protection in front of the site), and our host. Each acts on our instructions.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or the UK, you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to or withdraw consent for the analytics described above. Withdrawing consent for analytics is done in your browser, using any of the methods listed in "Analytics and cookies", and takes effect immediately. If you hold an account, the Settings page provides a working data export and account deletion. For anything else, write to [email protected], and you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we change this page. Continuing to use the site after a change is acceptance of the current version.
